KEMET SOLAR PLANT
As an ISO14001 environmentally certified company, KEMET became interested in utilizing solar electricity to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Environmental responsibility goes along with the company's daily activities, and responsibility steps are actively taken. As a capacitor supplier for solar panel systems, it was natural for the company to switch to utilizing solar power itself.

KAINUU REGION'S LARGEST SOLAR POWER PLANT
KEMET Electronics Oy's electronics factory is located in Suomussalmi, Kainuu. When completed in 2022, KEMET's solar power plant with almost 1,000 solar panels will become the largest solar power plant in Kainuu. With its 331 kilowatt peak power, the solar power plant produces approximately 265 megawatt hours of fully renewable solar electricity for the factory's use every year. The power plant reduces carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 23,000 kilograms annually.
KEMET initially got to know Solarigo due to a conversation with a representative of Lumme Energia. Solarigo's service models seemed interesting, after the cooperation went well in the initial investigation and in the bidding phase, it was decided to choose Solarigo as the supplier of the solar power plant. As a cooperation partner, KEMET describes Solarigo as reliable.
The construction project went well with the cooperation between the factory and Solarigo's personnel. For example, scaffolding locations, crane schedules and other practical actions were agreed in advance, with Solarigo being responsible for project management. There were schedule delays in the project due to the extended delivery times of the components, but they were informed about them and they knew how to prepare for them well in advance also at the KEMET factory.
Investing in solar power has been positively received by the employees at the KEMET factory. Employees monitor the power plant's production daily from a monitor in the factory. Customers have also been interested in the topic and environmental responsibilities in general.
In addition, KEMET's solar power plant is the first, and shows the direction in the international Yageo group.
